JAZZ ENSEMBLE

This weekly class, led by Alex Hoyt, focuses on learning and practicing the skill of improvisation in the style of jazz. This includes learning and applying harmonic theory, melody/solo construction, and the intricacies of jazz rhythm and articulation. The small group performs at school events and other venues as decided by the group and instructor. Those interested in expanding their music knowledge or joining a group to gain performance experience should contact the office to express interest and gain more information.

ROCK BAND

Bands meet for 2-4 hours per month with seasoned coaches experienced in the art of live performance. This program provides music instruction in addition to giving students the support to prepare for the stage. Rock Shows are regularly scheduled by the school. Students are also given additional opportunities to perform based upon their level of experience. Check out the video below of coached bands, Beyond the Boundaries, performing at a Quarterly Recital. More videos of our student groups can be found on our YouTube page.  If you are interested in joining or starting a band, please contact our office to schedule an audition.

Our masterclasses coincide with our Jazz, Rock and summer programming and are scheduled based upon the interests of our students. These classes are only open to currently enrolled students at the Hudson or Fairlawn School of Music.
