Allison Lint is a member of the Akron Symphony second violin section, and a freelance musician based in NE Ohio. She completed her undergraduate work at the Oberlin Conservatory, where she studied violin performance with Gregory Fulkerson. While at Oberlin, Allison also received a minor in Music History, and studied viola extensively under the tutelage of Peter Slowik. She has been invited to participate in masterclasses with Gil Shaham, Anner Bylsma, Vadim Gluzman, and Midori.
Allison has ten years of teaching experience in violin, viola, cello, and piano, and is currently strings faculty of
the Fairlawn School of Music and Hudson School of Music. Since 2006, she has been a pit musician for many local musical theater productions. Favorite onstage roles include a Victorian-era strolling violinist (A Christmas Story), an Irish pub band musician (A Man of No Importance), and the title role of the “Fiddler on the Roof,” which she has played on four occasions.
In addition to classical performance, Allison is often involved with pop/rock and contemporary groups. She has had the honor of appearing as concertmaster of the orchestra backing The Buckinghams, as well as leading a string quartet for a Roy Orbison tribute show at the Akron Civic Theater. Allison makes regular appearances with Los Angeles-based band The Strange Familiar, seen in the top 48 of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” season 5, and has performed live shows with rock groups in Cleveland, Oberlin, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia.
Allison performs on an 1826 Scottish fiddle, a generous gift from her grandfather. She spends a good portion of her time working as founder of her non-profit initiative, Violin for Vasculitis. Through V4V she is on a mission to travel to all 50 states to raise awareness and funding for vasculitis, an uncommon type of auto-immune disease with which she was diagnosed as a teen. Allison's story was recently featured on CNN's "Human Factor." Read more at www.ViolinForVasculitis.org
